Harry was born in
Marrickville, an inner western suburb of Sydney. He
married and, with his family, resided in Bankstown,
Abbotsford and Beaumont.
For forty-three
years Harry was a Director of Roblan; he was
responsible for the development of our Pressed
Metal Division.
Harry was renowned
for his tooling skills, sound business judgement,
and insistence on a fair deal for all echelons of
the industry. As a great supporter of the
apprenticeship system, he helped in the training of
many apprentices.
A keen sportsman,
Harry was a founding member of the Southern Alps
Ski Club. Besides skiing, he played cricket, golf,
squash and snooker. However, it was as a member of
the Glebe District Hockey Club's many 1st Grade
premiership winning teams that his sporting ability
excelled.
Harry passed away
in January, 1990, but his legacy to the industry
continues through his son, Rodney Butler, who is a
mechanical engineer and a shareholder of Roblan Pty
Limited.
