Tom commenced employment with Roblan Pty Ltd as a Trainee Accountant in March, 1969. He completed the Accountancy Certificate in 1973 and in 1974 passed the Australian Institute of Chartered Secretaries exams and Post Certificate Cost Accounting. In 1974 Tom was appointed Roblan's Secretary and Accountant, and in 1981 he completed a Bachelor of Business Studies degree - with credit - from the University of Technology Sydney (major in Accounting, sub-major in Business Finance). Tom completed a Master of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales (specialising in Legal Studies & Taxation). From 1985 to 1988 Tom was appointed a Lecturer (part time) in Management Accounting at the University of Technology Sydney. With the retirement of his long-time mentor, Jack McParland, Tom was appointed General Manager, then in 1989 the Financial Director, of Roblan Pty Ltd. Tom is a member of the TQM Steering Committee.
